DESIGN

Mid year, when I come back to Australia and move out I have a few goals and one is to create a few designs and bring them to life. Probably will be dresses, ones that are of a lasting style so I don't take so long in creating & sewing them then can only wear them a few times; I want to choose beautiful material and a simple, lovely design. I suck at sewing, I failed home ec in school miserably but as it's one of my weakenesses I'm forcing myself to face it & beat it! That will be in a few months so for the mean time I can work on my designs. I'll post my sketches once I've worked on some ideas. Along with my inspiration behind those ideas :) Liz. x

NORAH JONES- DON'T KNOW WHY

Why can't we all have the voice of an angel, like Norah Jones; she has the most beautiful voice and I love all of her music. She was also great in 'My Blueberry Nights'. Love the lyrics to this song!

Can't stop, Chloe Time

Love these two editorials. The first one is Alice in Wonderland inspired and the second reminds me of being in Highschool and doodling in your school diaries haha. I wish I had've kept mine because they ended up works of art by the end of the years!

Life is Art

I THINK EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS ART. WHAT YOU DO, HOW YOU DRESS, THE WAY YOU LOVE SOMEONE AND HOW YOU TALK. YOUR SMILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY. WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN, ALL YOUR DREAMS. THE WAY YOU DRINK YOUR TEA, HOW YOU DECORATE YOUR HOME. OR PARTY. OR GROCERY LIST. THE FOOD YOU MAKE. HOW YOUR WRITING LOOKS. AND THE WAY YOU FEEL.

LIFE IS ART.

found this quote on a blog & i'm not sure who said it but it's great. It's so true, life is what you make it. Also, I think it's good to think about how you wanted to be remembered- if you died today what would people think/remember of you?

Peace of mind

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side as long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Very inspiring quote :-) Liz. x

Textures

I enjoy the patterns and textures in this editorial and the locations. I'm totally one for mixing prints these days. There's no longer so many drab "fashion rules". As long as you're not too offensive-looking, you're fine.

Soft Influence

I enjoy every single one of these photographs.

For Liz

I saw this editorial of Jessica Stam & Heidi Mount by Peter Lindbergh in Harper’s Bazaar US April 2010 and instantly thought of Liz and if we were both super rich yuppies (haha!). Looks like a very fun role-playing shoot. Now if only WE had millions of dollars....... *Jerrrrrrad* ;)

SATC 2

I'm a die-hard SATC fan... I have to be honest I was a little dissapointed with the first SATC movie, and the second doesn't look all that great. Why? It's too over-the-top, it's nothing like the series which was the best- which was a lot more understated & laid back, yet whitty & clever. I feel the first movie didn't have the greatest script or story lines and I'm scared that the second movie will just continue to ruin what is Sex and the City. The fashion always looks pretty good, but it's somehow TOO glamorous and extreme compared with how they incorporated fashion into the series... I hope this makes sense. I hate the poster - the silver/glittery/modernized layout and Carrie's sunglasses in the first scene....what was Patricia Field thinking??? This disappoints me.
Of course, I will still rush to the cinema to see it the day it comes out- I remember when the first movie came out one of my bestfriends and I got our mums to write us 'sick'notes to get out of school for the afternoon to go see it. :)

Four Days

Four Days until I move into my new apartment. You have no idea how excited I am to live with my man in our OWN place without anybody else and their bad habits. (Sharing with 3 other guys and being the only female has it's drawbacks...)
I can have my stuff all over the apartment, decorate how I like, and keep it nice and clean. We purchased our furniture today to be delivered Monday.
My boyfriend was horrified by my magazine collection and how HEAVY they are when put together (impossible to move) and that's not even half of them (the rest are at my mothers). How can I throw out any copy of Vogue or Russh? Impossible!
I'm so preoccupied with moving and my holiday that I keep neglecting my studies for Uni and my patients I'm supposed to be recruiting for my portfolio (Midwifery). April is going to be my month of ORGANIZING and PRIORITIZING.
Did I mention how excited I am at decorating?? I nearly spent a fortune at UrbanOutfitters before, but canceled my transaction before I charge the credit card (after seeing how expensive freight was!!!)

Edward Sharpe

I had one of the most amazing live music experiences of my life - Tuesday night I went and saw Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros!
First time they've come to Australia and needless to say - not the last!
Their performance was amazing and the vibe they were giving off was so positive and loving.
I felt like I was in a sea of love.
To make my night even better, I managed to get on stage with a group of others and sit and chant along and dance and play the maracca to their final song!!!
I got to sit with and chit-chat with Christian Letts and told him how brilliant it was that they came to Australia and how appreciative we (the fans) were! He played his Epiphone right near me, and I was so drooling. He's very humble and smells of great cologne (either that or he has very nice smelling sweat haha!).
Jade wasn't there so she didn't get to sing in "Home" but Alex chose a very lucky girl from the audience to sing (I can't imagine how nervous she must have felt, but damn she got to drink from his wine bottle!!!)
I can't believe how brilliant that night was. I didn't want it to finish. We took some crappy quality photographs, we were too involved in the vibe to take photographs.
Easily the best band I've seen live.
(That's me in the red rose blouse and spotty shorts with the maraca and short blonde hair. You can tell how euphoric I was in the last photograph which was taken at the end of the song, I was resting my head on his back haha)
Photographs by myself, Casey & Steven

If you haven't heard them before (!!!) here's a video of their most popular song. You can imagine how much everyone loved singing along to this:
