Summer Missin'

Have not posted on here in such a long time, I feel rather guilty! I tend to use my Tumblr sooo much because it's a bit more efficient. Anyway, it's freezing here and I'm really over Winter already. Mainly because I'm sick, it's too cold to do much else than watch movies, stay indoors and snuggle up with my boyfriend and kitten.

I'm longing for Spring or Summer so much right now. The beach, the salt air, relaxing crashing of the waves.. how I miss living coastal! Living in the city can be frustrating when you have a lower budget... but has it's perks for night life. Ah I feel like I'm whinging too much. It's been sooooo long since I've posted on our blog! I feel very sad to have neglected this lovely site. I tend to get carried away on Tumblr these days... but here are some photos that remind me of Liz and our blog and the loveliness that is life.
It is so crazy to think about how much my life has changed in the one year that was 2010. So many highs and lows. I traveled overseas for the first time, fell out of love, lost a relationship, moved 100kms away, started a new course (that I love, however need to defer so I can catch up on finances..), moved in with a friend, moved out because I couldn't stand her, moved back home, re-friended my best friend of 11 years, fell absolutely head over heels for a lovely boy, realized that I deserve to feel amazing and adored, moved back to Brisbane and in a shared house with some great friends and my fantastic boyfriend, lost friends, gained friends, lost some brain cells, gained a lot of wisdom, laughed, cried, danced, broke down. 2010 was such an insane year for me, I'm hoping 2011 is going to bring me more fortune and less fall outs. I miss you Liz and hope we get to see each other soon, I love you, you are a great friend. Hope you all have a great start to the year as I have (apart from the flooding in our area and all the poor unfortunate souls affected by this shitty natural disaster). Art is such a beautiful thing. Since I was a baby I have always been creative and I appreciate all forms of artistic expression, whether it be through films, books, art, music etc. However it's frustrating for me as I feel I have a lot to offer/express but I haven't yet found an appropriate outlet for my creativity. Blogging beautiful pictures helps, but it's not my own work and I am still searching for that one form of expression that suits me perfectly. God knows I couldn't play a musical instrument if my life depended on it. I've accepted I'm not naturally musically talented even though I deeply enjoy all types of music and have tried to learn a great number of instruments myself. I want to get back to doing what I love most and I am going to try out lots of forms of art- painting, sketching, photography- untill I find my suitable release.

The house I live in right now is ‘home’ to me, I have lived here since I was 5 and it’s where all my memories are. I think ‘home’ is where you feel most comfortable, whether that’s all over the place as long as you are with the people you love or somewhere in particular like a city or a house... Here are some lovely ideas and inspiration for home decor etc. Even though it would be nice to live all over the world in beautiful places like Paris, nowhere would feel quite like home and if you have to make somewhere feel like home- 'Home is what you make it'.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY

1) My Family

Family is extremely important to me, and I am fortunate to have a wonderful family full of love and support. I love hanging out with my family, it's always fun.

2) My Bestfriends

I can count my closest friends on one hand for sure. The ones I've known forever, who know me inside out, who I can say anything to, who don't judge me, who I have the most fun with, who I can always rely on to be there. They are the people worth keeping in my life.

3) Photography

This sounds cliche but infact, this whole blog is based around pictures and photos that inspire me- I express who I am, how I feel, what I do and what I want to do through appropriate images. Posting, looking at, taking photos- it is all just a great outlet for my creative expression. Fashion, travel, art, style, beauty- all of this can be expressed through images.

4) The Vampire Diaries

This is my latest obsession, it is an amazing t.v show that I never want to end.

I'm in fact just a Movie and T.vShow buff in general and other shows I'm loving right now include Mad Men, True Blood and Gossip Girl. I'm a sucker for a rainy day, watching movies and catching up on the latest episode of my favourite shows.

5) Exercise

I jog and it honestly keeps me sane! I love the rush of endorphins I get from any sort of exercise, and running for me is an escape- it lets me get away from everything and everyone, I can either think about anything or I can turn off my brain and just listen to music. So not only do I love it but it's great for my health. I love jogging really early in the morning watching the sun rise, or dusk in the afternoon, watching the sun go down.

6) Travel

Travel is one of my biggest passions and always will be. I know there's a bigger world out there. There is sooo many beautiful places to see, so many interesting people to meet, great experiences to have. I'll never stop travelling. My next goal is Spain 2011, and to possibly live in Switzerland for a while, and to not buy a return ticket so that I can travel Europe and UK some more.

7) Jewellery

I love collecting unique, beautiful pieces of jewellery- mostly sterling silver. I find them off ebay, in jewellery stores etc. I bought a beautiful silver ring with a garnet stone in Avignon, France, handmade from the man who was standing at the market stall, I wear it all the time.

8) Books

What would we do without reading?

I love all the classics- Gatsby, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Dracula.

9) Coffee/Tea time

When I wake up in the morning, I look forward to making myself a coffee and enjoying it. It's like a special ritual. I'm not a tea drinker but I know it's the same story. I love meeting a friend for coffee or relaxing alone reading a book and having a cuppa. It's one of those small things in life I love.

10) Music

Again, what would we do without music?

There's a song for every mood, a soundtrack to our lives, songs that remind you of the good times, a song for everything.

I met a boy on the weekend. Who made me feel so happy. Something a boy has not been able to do in such a long time. Words could not do justice how cute the moments we had together were. It's just a pity he does not live in the same State as me. Even though it was one of those fleeting-loves; it was well worth the hours spent being awake together because we knew we'd have to part in the morning. I knew there was something positive about becoming single again... finding new happiness and love in wonderful strangers who come into your life so unexpectantly. I will definitely see this boy again, in the future. But for now I am very satisfied with the idea that finding love again, even bigger and better love, is never impossible. ♥ Cat

Mond/weekdayitis

Really really really dislike weekdays lately. To the point of I wake up depressed, mega depressed and don't want to get out of bed. Urgh, weekends are so much more fun. I wish I could relive the weekend over and over and never have weekdays (as in always having fun!!!). Cannot wait for this weekend where I get to hangout with lovely Liz and watch some awesome roller derby. Ps. How bad is it when you're crushing on someone? I hate it. But like it. But hate it.♥

Great Weekend

My weekend so far has included:

Seeing lots of my family

Cooking thai chicken noodle soup (Yum!)

Watching movies

Finishing Mad Men season 1

Going out for dinner- had beautiful barrimundi fish cakes and chicken kiev with risotto (yes I love food)

Going out for lunch/coffee at the beach

Starting to re-decorate/re-do my bedroom completely (need a refreshing change)

Sitting in the sun on my terrace, reading

(I have been sick this week so it's been wonderful to have a completely relaxing weekend)

I still need to pick up the latest Aus issue of VOGUE, as recommended by CAT!

Orange You Glad

Loving Orange and Pastel nail polish at the moment, especially tangerine and lilac. Today was so warm for a winter/spring day! Sudden heat wave = not so much joy. I'm actually liking to the fact that it's going to be summer, and I'm going to be single for the first summer in about 3-4 years! I just bought some high-waisted swimmers from American Apparel and will be looking forward to a retro-modern summer of lounging by the water, sipping juice/cocktails and enjoying long conversations with Liz. XOXO C

Chloe in a few editorials. First one was called something like Rehab, next one unknown and the last one is from Elle UK magazine. She's so versatile I adore her. I just wish she would get her butt into more films!
